My Bio:
My name is Paul Berard. I grew up in Barton, VT, a small rural town near the Canadian border. I then studied various arts and sciences in colleges across the nation and Europe. I have obtained a Batchelor's degree in Osteopathy and another in Human Biology. I also completed a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1991. Since then, I have been treating acute and chronic pain or motion problems for rehabilitation, longevity, and wellness. I use best practice measures that are safe, effective, comfortable, and conservative. I mix old-school adjusting with modern techniques that have been proven clinically effective and safe also. I have always taken great pride in being a caring, professional and helpful doctor of chiropractic medicine. Over the years I have added other manual, adjunctive, and herbal therapies, corrective and rehabilitative exercise, and mind-body movement to my practice. One of my favorite quotes is, “The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.” by Albert Einstein. Another is, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease" by Thomas Edison.
I use many techniques including Gonstead, Diversified CMT, Logan Basic, Activator Methods, Cox, Sacro-Occipital, Kinesio Taping, Post-Neural Facilitation, Cranial, Mobilization, Visceral Manipulation, Still, Positional Release, Muscle Energy, Reflexology, Therapeutic Ultrasound, IST and other traction, Touch of Health, Meditation, Myofascial Release, nutrition, herbs, Total Motion Release, exercise programming, and other stress reduction methods.
Outside of working hours, my main love is spending quality time with my family and friends, especially doing fun things outside together, weather permitting. Nature hiking, swimming, playing on the beach, and practically anything outdoors are my favorite activities, yet I also like cards, board games, playing and writing music, and intelligent conversations. I also enjoy all the arts, exploration, travel, arriving home safely afterwards, sailing, boating, snorkeling, learning, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, skating, and other winter sports. If it is fun, helpful, useful, loving, or enjoyable, I'm in!
Please don't take chances with your health. A wellness plan that's easy to understand and follow through on is key to good health all through your life. Make chiropractic a cornerstone of that plan, and you're well on your way to living a life that's active and free from pain.
No one therapeutic type is a stand alone and complete answer to all health care needs. I wish to be an integral part of your team of providers who work together with cooperation to provide you with a more complete healthcare package. I do not expect to replace the others, yet simply add to what they can offer you.
Structure and function are intimately related. By restoring the structural framework of the body, the various functions will also be positively affected and overall stress will be reduced. In this way, I seek to assist clients to achieve improved health, wellness, quality of life, and homeostasis (our innate ability to self-regulate, grow, and heal). I treat the whole body at any age, and tailor treatment to each individual in ways that are proven to be safe and effective.
